The Juvenile Court Assistant State's Attorney is Alexandra Bynum. Ms. Bynum received her
Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her Juris Doctor
degree from St. Thomas University School of Law. While at St. Thomas, Ms. Bynum was selected
to be Articles Editor for the St. Thomas Law Review, participated as a teaching assistant
assisting struggling first year law students, and was admitted to the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor
Fraternity. Ms. Bynum also received her LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law
Center. Ms. Bynum has been a member of the Flordia Bar since January 1996, where she practiced
in the areas of domestic law, personal injury, wills and trusts, estate planning, and
immigration and probate. Upon her relocation from South Florida to Calvert County, Maryland,
Ms. Bynum became a member of the Maryland Bar in October 2006. She previously worked for the
Southern Maryland Advocacy Center, providing legal assistance to victims of domestic violence.
Ms. Bynum joined the State's Attorney's Office in June 2007. During her tenure at the State’s
Attorney’s Office, Ms. Bynum has prosecuted cases in District Court and Circuit Court, and
she is the Juvenile Drug Court prosecutor. Ms. Bynum has also successfully completed numerous
training programs, including the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Association Trial Advocacy Program,
the National Drug Court Institute Comprehensive Drug Court Prosecutor Training, the National
District Attorney’s Association Trial Advocacy Program and the National District Attorney’s
Association "Gangs, Drugs and Guns" Program.
