Lisa Ridge received her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from American University in Washington, D.C. and her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law. While in law school, she served as a judicial law clerk for Judge Thomas Rymer in the Circuit Court for Calvert County.

In January of 1995, Ms. Ridge joined the State's Attorney's Office in Calvert County as a part time prosecutor in the District Court, while also maintaining a private practice. In 1997, she joined the State's Attorney's Office full time in the Child Support Division.

After receiving extensive training in the prosecution of drug cases at the National College of District Attorneys, Ms. Ridge was assigned to prosecute the felony narcotic cases in the county as well as handle the asset forfeiture hearings connected to those cases. In 2000, she received training in arson investigation and prosecution and has been handling arson prosecutions for the county since 2001.
