Jennifer Morton prosecutes all of the domestic violence related cases in the county. Ms.
Morton is a 1993 graduate from Bowie State University and a 1998 graduate of Widener
University School of Law. Ms. Morton clerked for the State's Attorney's Office while she
attended law school and then served as a law clerk to The Honorable Warren J. Krug in 1998.
Ms. Morton started working in the State's Attorney's Office in 1999. Ms. Morton has
attended training with the National Advocacy Center in areas such as Cybercrime,
Cyberstalking and Computer Evidence, DUI Homicide, the Domestic Violence National Conference,
and Prosecuting Homicide cases. In addition, Ms. Morton has attended training in Homicide
Prevention through Behavorial Assessment of Abusers, Protective Orders, Stalking, and
Strangulation, and Danger Assessment in Domestic Violence. She has also attended the Francis
Glessner Lee Homicide Investigation Seminar at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Ms.
Morton has been specializing in domestic violence cases since 2003. She has been the
Chairperson of the Calvert County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team since 2007 and is a
member of the Calvert County Family Violence Council. The Domestic Violence Unit handles close
to 500 cases per year, both in District and Circuit Court.
